Love-Themed Poconos Motel Famous For Romantic Getaways Closes After 50 Years
The Land of Love is letting go. After nearly 50 years, Pocono Palace Resort — a popular love-themed getaway in the Poconos — has closed its doors. The East Stroudsburg motel, which reportedly opened in 1976, was sold, with the transition of title set for Thursday, May 2, according to a statement on its website. Second Deadly Explosion In Two Days: 1 Killed, 1 Seriously Hurt In South River, Prosecutor Says
The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office is investigating its second deadly explosion in two days. The incident on Continental Court in South River was reported just after 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said. There, two male victims had sustained serious injuries. According to Ciccone, Kevin Gilbert, 62, was killed while the second was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital with serious injuries. Body Of Missing Kayaker Recovered Along Schuylkill River
The body of a 70-year-old kayaker who'd gone missing earlier in the week during a fishing trip along the Schuylkill River earlier this week has been recovered, authorities said. The unidentified man was recovered by a marine unit in the river in Upper Merion Township at 5:50 p.m. Thursday, May 2, Upper Merion Police Capt. Jeremy Johnson said. Victim Shot By Man He Met In Rideshare In Lorton: Police
A 32-year-old man has been arrested for shooting a person he'd met in a rideshare vehicle in Fairfax County, police said. Yusef Roy, of Lorton, and the passenger were picked up at difference places but were dropped off at the same final destination near the 9200 block of Ashland Woods on March 1, Fairfax County police said. Student Brings BB Gun On Another School's Bus In Prince William: Police
A 15-year-old boy is accused of getting on another school's bus and flashing a gun in his waistband, police in Prince William County said. The boy got onto a bus on its way to Forest Park High School in Woodbridge, around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, when he lifted up his shirt to reveal the gun tucked in his waistband, police said. A Prince William County high school was sheltering in place due to a threat called in on Thursday, May 2, police said.
