NORWALK, Conn. — Residents and visitors should expect delays, traffic and closed streets this weekend as the Norwalk Seaport Association holds its annual Oyster Festival at Veterans Memorial Park.
The following streets will be closed to through traffic from 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, until midnight Sunday Sept. 11:
- Seaview Avenue between Fort Point Street and East Avenue
- Harvey Street at Van Zant.
- Betts Place at Seaview Avenue
- Goodrow Street at East Avenue and at Seaview Avenue
- Cottage Street at East Avenue.
- East Avenue will be one way northbound throughout as well.
Road closures and festival traffic will be especially heavy in lower East Norwalk and South Norwalk, police said.
"We ask that all drivers use extreme caution if driving in the area of festival due to increased pedestrian traffic," police said in a Facebook post. "Norwalk Police Officers were be posted throughout the area to assist with vehicular and pedestrian traffic."
Resident-only parking will be posted on streets near the festival. Officers will be patrolling and enforcing violations.

The sixth annual outdoor event is set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Veterans Memorial Park, Norwalk. Tickets are $12 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-12, and free for children younger than 5. Seniors ages 62 and older pay $10 per ticket.
