NORWALK, Conn. -- Young players from all over Fairfield County and beyond competed recently in Slammer Tennis World’s U.S. Tennis Association tournaments at Norwalk High School.
Andrew Lawless of Weston won the boys 18-and-under tournament, sweeping through the event without dropping a set. Matthew Murphy of Guilford won the 16-and-under tournament, including a tough three-set match in the semifinals.
In round-robin events, Brian Song (14-and-under boys), Zachary Amendola (12-and-under boys), Olivia Wen (14-and-under girls), Imogen Smith (12-and-under girls) and Gregory Settos (14-and-under boys) finished unbeaten.
Slammer Tennis World, in conjunction with Norwalk Recreation and Parks, conducts four USTA tournaments every summer.
