Kevin Talbert, 25, and Carole Anderson, 30, of Norwalk were each charged with sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, and interfering with an officer. Each was held on $10,000 bond and will appear in court Sept. 24.

Norwalk police responded to the area of HomeGoods on Connecticut Avenue at 5:30 p.m. Sunday on a report of a couple who were shoplifting.

Police said they met with loss prevention officers, who said that they had been informed by employees of the Trumbull HomeGoods store that Talbert and Anderson had recently shoplifted at that location. The employees said that the pair had stolen a total of $20,000 worth of merchandise from area HomeGoods stores, according to police reports.

Once notified of the pair's behavior, the loss prevention officers spotted Talbert and Anderson in the Norwalk store and started watching them, according to police. They saw them take items off the shelves and put them in Anderson's purse, according to police reports. The two then walked out of the store with $180 worth of items in her purse, police said.

The security personnel went outside and confronted the two, who ran across Connecticut Avenue, police said. Anderson was quickly apprehended near Donut Delight, but Talbert kept running, according to police.

While questioning Anderson about Talbert, she gave officers a fake name, according to police.

Talbert was seen running behind the bowling alley and through multiple properties, police said. Officers spotted him and started pursuing him on foot, police said.

An officer saw him climb a fence behind the bowling alley and run across I-95, according to police. Traffic was stopped while officers pursued him.

Officers eventually found Talbert hiding underneath a truck at Reynolds Farm on Richards Avenue, according to police reports. He was taken into custody without further incident.
