Stamford Police Officers Ryan Lee and Robert Bossone were dispatched to a Woodland Avenue home at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, where there was a noise complaint.

Once the officers arrived at the home, they found the illegally parked car, with a man sleeping in the driver’s seat. The man - later identified as 19-year-old Norwalk resident Jahvaughn Lee - was woken up after officers banged on the window, who noted they then saw him move something under the seat.

Lee was ordered out of the car, at which point the officers reported that they smelled marijuana. According to police, Lee became combative with the officers and attempted to punch Lee. He then attempted to flee on foot before he was quickly captured and taken into custody.

During a search of the vehicle, the officers recovered a 9mm high-point handgun. Lee was arrested and charged with possession of a gun without a permit, having a weapon in a motor vehicle and interfering with police. He was released on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 26.

In a statement, Stamford Police Capt. Diedrich Hohn said that “the Stamford Police Department is extremely proud of the actions of Officer Ryan Lee and Robert Bossone.

"Their proactive police work removed another gun off the streets of Stamford and possibly prevented more needless gun violence. This is another example of the risks the Stamford Police Officers are up against every day.

"We are all lucky that these officers were vigilant in quickly recognizing a dangerous situation and rectifying it in a safe manner.”
