Norwalk Police Make DUI Arrests During Labor Day Weekend

NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk Police conducted enhanced DUI Enforcement throughout the Labor Day holiday weekend,. resulting in numerous charges.

The Norwalk Police DUI Enforcement program over the holiday weekend resulted in more than 60 charges on various traffic infractions.

The results of the enhanced enforcement are as follows:

DUI arrests – 6
Drug related charges – 8
Cell phone violations – 9
Speeding – 11
All other motor vehicle violations – 34
Warrant arrest – 1

The event marked the end of the department's current state grant for DUI enforcement.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office has approved the Norwalk Police Department's 2017 Comprehensive DUI Enforcement Grant in the amount of $58,950.00, effective Oct. 28, 2016 through Sept. 9, 2017. This is a federal grant managed by the state Department of Transportation.
