NORWALK, Conn. — Norwalk Police charged a Fairfield man with assaulting someone at a hotel who he believed had taken his methadone, according to the Hour.
Police were called to the Econolodge on Westport Avenue in Norwalk on a report of a disturbance at around 2 a.m. Monday, according to the Hour.
The complainant told police that 33-year-old David Delmedico of Fairfield had accused them of taking his methadone and became angry, the Hour reported. When Delmedico tried to use the phone to call people for narcotics, the complainant said they tried to take the phone away from him, according to the Hour.
Delmedico then grabbed the complainant, who locked themselves in the bathroom, according to the Hour. Delmedico was able to get into the bathroom, and began strangling the person with a towel, the Hour reported. The complainant had visible injuries when they spoke with police, according to the Hour.
Delmedico was charged with disorderly conduct, third-degree strangulation and third-degree assault, according to the Hour. His bond was set at $5,000 and he was given a court date of Oct. 10.
