Tammy Lynn Dilorio, 37, of Stratford, was charged on Friday, Nov. 16 with first- and third-degree larceny and second-degree forgery.
The victim, who had fallen behind on rent payments of about $4,780, is described as a 55-year-old woman with the mental capacity of a 12-year-old who lived alone in a Norwalk apartment at the time of the alleged offenses by Dilorio, who worked as an aide to the woman in 2014 and 2015.
After a comprehensive search conducted which included a review of the victim's financial documentation, a criminal investigation was launched.
The examination of multiple years of financial documents, numerous interviews with witnesses and the review of two years of cellular data resulted in a significant amount of evidence that Dilorio had committed larceny, state police said.
Dilorio was given and posted a court set bond of $50,000 and is due to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Monday, Nov. 26.
