Norwalk Firefighters Put Out Third Blaze In 24 Hours

NORWALK, Conn. – A tenant in the Roodner Court housing complex on Ely Avenue was treated in Norwalk Hospital early Wednesday for smoke inhalation after a fire in their third-floor apartment, according to Norwalk fire officials.

Only one person was in the unit at the time, and no other injuries were reported, officials said. The 1:30 a.m. blaze was contained to the unit, but other families in the building were also temporarily evacuated, officials said. They were able to return to their units about an hour later, but the Norwalk Housing Authority was finding temporary accommodations for displaced families.

The fire was contained in one bedroom, but other parts of the unit sustained smoke and water damage.

Deputy Fire Marshal Chris Hansen was investigating the cause of the fire. The blaze was the third that Norwalk firefighters have battled in 24 hours, with fires on San Vincenzo Place and Lawrence Street on Tuesday afternoon.
