Norwalk Firefighters Free Driver After Accident On I-95

NORWALK, Conn. -- Norwalk firefighters freed a driver stuck in a car following an accident on I-95 northbound Tuesday night.

The Norwalk Fire Department responded to the accident scene between exits 13 and 14 at 7:35 p.m. Tuesday. A disabled car in the center breakdown lane had been struck from behind by a pickup truck traveling in the high speed lane, fire officials said.

The driver of the car suffered minor injuries had to be extricated through the crushed passenger side door. The driver was taken to Norwalk Hospital and the pickup truck driver refused medical attention.

Northbound traffic slowed to one lane for about a half-hour while the two vehicles were towed. State police are investigating the cause of the accident.
