Police in Bethel are seeking the public’s assistance as they attempt to track down a suspect who allegedly stole money from a donation box at a local gas station.

Investigators from the Bethel Police Department released surveillance photos of a woman who robbed the donation box at Wheels gas station on Stony Hill Road at approximately 10:45 p.m. on July 11.

Police said the woman pulled into the parking lot, into a “dark section of the lot,” entered the store and can “be clearly seen taking a donation box full of an undetermined amount of money off the counter next to the register,” before exiting the store. She then fled the lot in a small gold or tan Toyota Corolla.

The gas station employee who witnessed the suspect steal the donation box noted that the left rear tail light on the Corolla was broken. The car took off west on Stony Hill Road following the alleged theft.

Anyone with information or who may recognize the suspect has been asked to contact Det. Frank O’Farrell at the Bethel Police Department by calling (203) 744-7900.
