NORWALK, Conn. — After a boat went through a clearly marked dive zone Tuesday on the Norwalk River near the Walk Bridge, the Norwalk Department of Police Service Marine Unit issued a boater warning.

The divers, who were working on the Walk Bridge Project, were not struck by the boat, according to Norwalk Public Information Officer Lt. Terrence Blake.

The operator of the boat was located and subsequently cited for the violation, police said.

According to the Norwalk Police Department, divers are expected to be working near the Walk Bridge for the next two weeks. Boaters are reminded to be aware of their surroundings and to use caution near the bridge.

Connecticut law states that no person shall operate a vessel or cause any person on water skis to pass within 100 feet of a device marking the location of an underwater swimmer or diver.
