Baby Found Dead At Day Care Reportedly Run By Daughter Of Norwalk Mayor

NORWALK, Conn. — A 4-month-old baby who was at a Norwalk home daycare died Wednesday, Norwalk Police said.

Police were investigating at the home at 9 Hunters Lane, according to The Hour. Christine Limone, daughter of Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling, operates Family Child Care Home in the basement of the home at that address, The Hour said.  

In a release issued late Wednesday, Norwalk Police said police and fire department units were sent to the scene at 1:31 p.m. Wednesday. Police said that CPR was being performed on the child before first responders arrived.The child was transported to Norwalk Hospital and was later pronounced dead.

Police said the Special Victims Unit is investigating the case.

Before he became mayor in 2013, Rilling had been chief of police in Norwalk for 17 years. 

This is the third child to die in a home day care in Fairfield County this year. 

A 4-month-old boy from Shelton died in a home day care center in Fairfield in March. The owner of the unlicensed day care is charged with manslaughter in his death, accused of administering a fatal dose of Diphenhydramine, which should not be administered to children under the age of 2. She pleaded not guilty this week. 

A 2-month-old girl from New Canaan died in a day care center in a home in Stamford in July. She died of blunt force trauma to the head. The owner of that day care center is also charged with manslaughter and pleaded not guilty in August.
