Luke Gatti, a former freshman from Bayville, N.Y., berated food service workers who refused to serve him in an incident that became a viral YouTube hit.

UConn spokeswoman Stephanie Reitz said Wednesday that Gatti was no longer a student at UConn student but couldn't say why because of federal privacy laws.

"I can confirm that Luke Gatti is no longer enrolled as a UConn student," Reitz said. "That was effective today."

Gatti was charged with breach of peace and trespassing in the Oct. 4 incident. Gatti later apologized in another YouTube video he posted.

Federal student privacy regulations prevent UConn from discussing circumstances of an individual student’s departure, Reitz said.

The law prevents UConn from discussing potential discipline cases involving individual students. But any UConn student found to have violated the provisions of the Student Code may face penalties that range from probation to expulsion, she said.
