The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Putnam residents regarding the residency of 62-year-old Louis Trama, who has moved from a Maple Drive home in Mahopac to West Rocks Road in Norwalk.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Trama as a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.” He has also been designated as a sexually violent offender.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Trama used a knife to engage in sexual intercourse, deviate sexual intercourse and sexual contact with a stranger in October 1986. He was convicted of four counts of rape and six counts of sodomy in June the following year, when he was sentenced to a term of between 100 months to 25 years in prison. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Connecticut State Police Sex Offender Unit.
