Norwalk To Announce Break in 2009 Homicide

Norwalk police will make a major announcement Wednesday about the October 2009 slaying of Jose Joaquin Morales, a 33-year-old gas station attendant, according to Sgt. Lisa Cotto. Norwalk Police Chief Harry Rilling and Mayor Richard Moccia are expected to release new information regarding the homicide at noon.

Morales was working the midnight shift at the Miracle Gas Station on West Avenue when unknown assailants came in to rob the store, according to published reports. Morales complied with all of their demands and was facedown on the floor when he was shot in the back of the head. The state has offered $50,000 for information about the slaying.

Cotto said no information would be forthcoming from the police department before the news conference.
