Joshua Butzke had jumped from a plane 13,500 feet in the air near the Zephyrhills Municipal Airport, and deployed his parachute at 3,500 feet, the Tampa Bay Times reported. However, his parachute began spiraling and he landed hard, resulting in the injuries that killed him, according to the Tampa Bay Times. First responders arrived on scene at around 4:20 p.m., and he was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead at 5:10 p.m., according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Butzke was a licensed skydiver and had made 85 jumps, including 13 over the previous two days, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Originally from Port Jefferson Station, N.Y., Butzke had been living in Norwalk and working as a financial planner for three years, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

Officials were not certain about what caused the parachute to spiral, but local officials as well as the Federal Aviation Administration will be investigating to determine the cause of the accident, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
