The 2017 CT United Ride, the state’s largest 9/11 tribute, will be logging 60 miles through 10 communities in this fundraiser for fire and law enforcement personnel.

“For those that lost their lives, for those that gave their lives and for those that continue to put their lives on the line each day…that’s why we ride,” said Fred Garrity, Jr., executive director of the group.

The ride is one of the largest in New England and is likely to include 3,000 to 5,000 motorcyclists, attracting an estimated 15,000 spectators along the route, which winds through Norwalk, Westport, Wilton, Redding, Bethel, Newtown, Monroe, Trumbull, Fairfield and Bridgeport.

U.S. Sens. Chris Murphy and Richard Blumenthal, U.S. Rep. Jim Himes and several local and state officials are expected to join the group in a tribute ceremony in Norwalk.

Gates open at 8:30 a.m. for riders to line up at Norden Industrial Park, 10 Norden Place. The tribute ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m.

Those who wish to participate in the ride may register from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 9, at Captain’s Cove Seaport in Bridgeport or from 8:30 to 10:45 a.m. on ride day at Norden. The cost is $25 per rider with an additional $25 per passenger.

The ride ends at Seaside Park in Bridgeport.
