Melissa Wilkinson was killed Sunday at the age of 33 at her Wilton Avenue apartment. Police said that the incident appeared to be a murder-suicide carried out by her father, 55-year-old Mark Wilkinson, who shot himself shortly after during  a standoff with police.

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up by Melissa Wilkinson's family to help pay for her final expenses. Melissa is survived by her family, including mother Karen, sisters Lee and Angelique, brothers Robert and Markus, step-father Kevin, sister-in-law Claire, grandparents Bob and Ethel, and a number of cousins, aunts and uncles. The GoFundMe page was set up by her sister Lee.

"Melissa was a daughter, sister, and friend to many. Her departure from us has left a hole in many of our hearts and all of us are searching for ways to reach out and heal."

"Some friends and family have expressed a wish to help contribute to her final expenses and we have set up this fund to provide an avenue for your support."

The page describes her as a "free and open heart who embraced many friends from all walks of life and always was ready to lend a hand."

"As her family we want to embrace the love you felt for her and help you find ways to honor her memory. We know she would also be fond of donations made in her honor to any charity you feel she would support or to think of her when you may be out and tip your servers just a little bit extra in her honor."

It is not yet known what the final total for funeral costs will be, but donations will remain open and anything more than the amount required will be donated to a charity she would have liked.

"We thank you for all of your love and support through what for all of us is a tragic and challenging time."
