Head to downtown Westport for First Night Westport-Weston, one of the region’s largest holiday celebrations.

This year’s festivities include the tuneful melodies of songstress Michele Grace, crowd-pleasing hypnotist Jim Spinnato, karaoke, horse-drawn carriage rides and much more throughout the afternoon and evening.

“First Night welcomes thousands of Fairfield County residents and visitors from all over to our city to share the music, family fun and fireworks side by side and look forward to a bright 2018,” said First Night Board President Barbra Pearson-Rac.

Kids rule at Saugatuck School, where there will be dancing and sing-alongs with Al DeCant the Singing Principal and Tom Webber. The Magic Genie and ventriloquist Jonathan Geffner return and kids can pose for caricatures and play with balloon animals.

Music abounds from sizzling salsa to a family Zumba class with Karen Liss at Branson Hall.

Award-winning jazz pianist Chris Coogan will play with his quartet at Christ Holy Trinity Church and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Mark Naftalin returns for a two-hour show at Westport Historical Society.

Want to head outside? You’ll find a warming fire on Jesup Green and a guided night sky stargazing session with the Westport Astronomical Society. The massive fireworks display starts at 8 p.m. over the river.

All performances are within walking distance of downtown and there will be a free shuttle from Jesup Green to Saugatuck School.

The fun begins at 3:30 p.m.

First Night buttons — your ticket to all the activities — are on sale now for $15 at Westport Town Hall, Trader Joe’s, Westport Library, Westport Historical Society and Weston Town Hall.
