GREENWICH, Conn. — Everybody's still Irish on Sunday, when the Greenwich St. Patrick's Day parade hits the streets at 2 p.m.

The Greenwich Hibernians 2017 St. Patrick's Day parade will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19 at Town Hall.

The Hibernian Association is gearing up for the parade — in rain or snow —although they are hoping for sunshine.

The parade starts at Town Hall, then goes on Field Point Road, and along the Post Road, and then all the way down Greenwich Avenue.

Greenwich police Detective Mike Rooney, a descendant of Irish immigrants will lead this year's parade with his wife, Coleen, and their children, Brendan and Grace.

Rooney's family came from County Cork, Ireland, in 1821.

Parade organizers expect streets to be cleared of snow should more come Saturday or early Sunday.

They also ask spectators and participants not to throw confetti or candy to keep the roads clear.

The parade committee is especially grateful to the Town of Greenwich Department of Public Works for its efforts in clearing the parade route of snow and ice from the March 14 storm.
