Find Holiday Cheer At The Norwalk Historical Society Special Event

NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Historical Society Museum will host a special event to spread some Holiday Cheer on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

All exhibits will be available for viewing at the Holiday Cheer event, including the museum’s latest exhibit, "Self and the World: Experiencing Photography in 19th-Century Norwalk."

Guests can enjoy warm apple cider and holiday cookies as they make their way around museum exhibits.

All guests are asked to donate a canned or non-perishable food item to benefit the Open Door Shelter, which provides shelter, food, clothing as well as other services to the homeless and working poor in the Norwalk community. Visit norwalkhistoricalsociety.org for a list of suggested food items.

All exhibits will be available for viewing, including the museum’s latest exhibit, "Self and the World: Experiencing Photography in 19th-Century Norwalk," curated by Elizabeth Avery with graphic designs by Scott Kuykendall.

Other exhibits include "Norwalk Collects: Celebrating Four Historic Collections," "Eating off the Landscape: The Farrington Lockwood Dessert Service," curated by Elizabeth Pratt Fox, and "Norwalk: Portrait of Diversity," with photography by the late Tony Velez.

Guests can also visit the museum gift shop, which showcases the work of more than 15 Connecticut artists and artisans and features an eclectic array of distinctive merchandise, including home decor, paintings, mixed media art, photography, greeting cards, jewelry, ornaments, books, housewares, clothing, accessories, vintage-inspired toys, pottery and more.

Additionally, guests will find the Norwalk Historical Society‘s logo wear, handmade linen tote bags, aprons, dish towels, t-shirts, hats, sweatshirts and custom soaps. The gift shop will also have extended holiday hours on Friday, Dec. 9, from Noon – 7 p.m.
