NORWALK, Conn. -- Imagine Connecticut, a nonpartisan group that started with over 250 business leaders representing over 50,000 employees, is holding a summit to address the economy, budget crisis and transportation needs of Connecticut.

The meeting will be on Friday, June 10, from 8 to 10 a.m. at The Norwalk Inn, 99 East Ave., Norwalk. The group's mission is to help in crafting solutions that will make Connecticut a Top 10 job creation state in 10 years.

“Connecticut continues to suffer from job losses beyond GE leaving the state, future deficits of over $2.4 trillion and aging infrastructure, including the recent Norwalk bridge Metro-North breakdown over Memorial Day Weekend," said Steve Obsitnik, a local business leader and co-founder of Imagine Connecticut. "Imagine Connecticut was founded on the principle that we must convert anger over these issues into practical, thoughtful solutions that will improve the quality of life for everyone here in Connecticut.”

The Summit will include speakers on each of Imagine Connecticut's key issues:

  • Economic Development: Catherine Smith, Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development, discussing retaining and attracting jobs in the state.
  • Budget & Pension: David Walker, former Comptroller General of the United States, addressing Connecticut's persistent deficit and pension issues.
  • Transportation: Jim Cameron, founder of the Commuter Action Group, discussing the future of transportation in Connecticut.
