FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday in northern Fairfield County as late snow began to fall Monday night, according to the National Weather Service .
Freezing rain, sleet and snow are possible, according to the forecast, with accumulations of up to 1 inch of snow and a glaze of ice in interior Connecticut by Tuesday morning.
Untreated roadways and sidewalks will be slippery, and motorists and pedestrians are urged to use caution. Icy spots can easily develop on bridges and overpasses. Visibility could be limited when driving.
In lower Fairfield County, there is a chance of rain, snow and sleet before 3 a.m. then changing to rain Tuesday. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent, with little or no snow accumulation expected. Tuesday will be rainy with high near 45 degrees. The sun will return Wednesday with a high near 39 degrees.
