FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Weather forecasters said Tropical Storm Andrea would dump 2 to 4 inches of rain on Fairfield County from Friday into Saturday. And they were right.
Andrea was the first named storm of the not-yet-a-week-old Atlantic hurricane season. It hit Florida late Thursday and quickly swept up the East Coast.
Skies were sunny Saturday, but not until after a deluge of heavy rain on Friday and overnight Saturday.
Here are some of the unofficial rainfall totals as of 5 a.m. Saturday, for the previous 25 hours, as reported by the National Weather Service:
- Bridgeport: 4.60 inches
- Danbury Airport: 3.89 inches
- Norwalk: 3.62 inches
- Stamford: 3.34 inches
