FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Tuesday will be a cloudy and unseasonably cool day in Fairfield County, with the chances of rain increasing through the day and into the night.

There is a 30 percent chance of rain during the day, mainly after 4 p.m., with rain chances increasing from the south as the afternoon progresses, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will be well below normal, with a high of 69 predicted. An east wind of 10 to 14 mph will blow, though there is the chance of strong gusts.

Rain is likely to hit Tuesday night, mainly before 1 a.m. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent, with rainfall amounts between a quarter and a half inch possible. Otherwise the night will be cloudy, with a low around 57.

Wednesday will start off cloudy, but then will gradually become sunny and winds will lighten. Temperatures will rebound and rise to a high of 76, though it will still be a bit below seasonal normals. Wednesday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 59.

There is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Thursday afternoon. Otherwise the day will be mostly sunny, with a high near 79. Thursday night will be partly cloudy with a low around 52.

Friday will be sunny, but still pretty cool, with a high near 69 expected.
