Rain Could Lead To Flooding In Norwalk Ahead Of Mostly Clear Weekend

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Fairfield County will continue to receive heavy rainfall Friday morning that could lead to flooding, but it should taper off by the afternoon.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm are expected early in the day, mainly before 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The heavy rainfall this morning could lead to areal flooding, mainly for urban and poor drainage areas. There is also the chance of flash flooding.

Conditions are expected to dry out by afternoon, though there is still a chance of a late day shower or thunderstorm. Temperatures will be slightly below average during the day, with a high near 77 predicted. New rainfall amounts could total between one or two inches.

There is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Friday night after midnight, but the night is expected to be mostly cloudy, with a low around 68.

A cold front will approach the region Friday night and pass through the area late Saturday, which will result in a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, mainly before 11 a.m. The rest of the day will be partly sunny, with a high near 84. 

The front will clear the region Saturday evening, resulting in clear skies for the remainder of the weekend. Saturday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 62. Sunday will be sunny with a high near 82, while Sunday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 63.

Next week will start off with a mostly sunny Monday, when the high will be near 84.
