Freeze Warning Issued Before Snow Hits Norwalk

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Winter is coming early to Fairfield County, with a freeze warning in effect overnight into Wednesday morning and snow possible later in the week, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has issued the freeze warning, which will last from 2 a.m. Wednesday until 9 a.m. Temperatures will be in the lower 30s. Sensitive outdoor crops and vegetation which are not protected could be killed by the freezing temperatures.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 53. Northwest winds will be between 10 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Tuesday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 31 and northwest winds between 5 and 7 mph.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 48. Wind chill values will be between 25 and 35 early, and northwest winds will be 5 to 11 mph. Wednesday night will see increasing clouds, with a low around 33 and north wind from 3 to 7 mph.

On Thursday there is a slight chance of snow before 10 a.m., then rain. The high will be near 50. Southeast winds will be between 5 to 10 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.

Thursday night there will be rain, with a low around 43. The chance of precipitation is 80 percent, and new precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch are possible.
