FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Fairfield was put under a special weather alert late Wednesday afternoon with thunderstorms and wind gusts likely on the way, the National Weather Service announced at about 6 p.m.
Brief heavy downpours with lightning and wind gusts of 30 to 40 mph were expected as a weakening line of thunderstorms moved east at 65 mph, the weather service said.
Rain showers were expected Wednesday between 10 p.m. and midnight, with a chance of rain or drizzle into Thursday morning. The low should be about 51 degrees.
