FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — After a dreary day, patchy dense fog will develop late Monday night across Fairfield County, potentially causing hazardous driving conditions through the Tuesday morning commute, the National Weather Service said.

A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect from midnight until noon Tuesday.

Visibilities will be a quarter-mile or less at times, which could make travel difficult.

Drivers should slow down, use low beam headlights and leave plenty of distance between cars in case a sudden stop is needed.

There is also a chance of sprinkles or light rain overnight. More widespread rain is possible again throughout Tuesday with high temperatures near near 51 degrees. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Wednesday will gradually become sunny, with a high near 55, but temps will drop overnight to near freezing.

Thursday will be sunny again, with a high near 50 and an overnight low near freezing again.

But brace for it: On Friday, there is a chance of rain and snow before 11 a.m., then rain is likely.
