FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- High temperatures and dry conditions could increase the risk for brush and forest fires throughout Fairfield County on Tuesday, though some rain could move into the area Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures are expected to warm into the 70s, and possibly into the 80s in some portions of the county on Tuesday, which will be sunny. Relative humidity will decrease to between 30 and 40 percent during the day and gusts could read as high as 20 to 25 mph. The NWS warns that these conditions could enhance the threat of spread brush fire, if ignition occurs. The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection also warns that the forest fire danger level for Tuesday is high.

Luckily a cold front is expected to pass through the area Tuesday night and Wednesday, bringing with it a chance of showers. Tuesday night will be mostly cloudy with a low around 55, though there is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. The wind is also expected to become calm after midnight.

On Wednesday there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2 p.m., followed by a slight chance of showers. Clear skies are expected to return late Wednesday and Wednesday night. The high Wednesday will be near 67. The nighttime will be mostly clear, with a low around 40.

Thursday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 59. Thursday night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 40. Friday night will also be mostly sunny, with a high near 59. Friday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 40.
