You all miss the point completely. Up until now, Mangiacopra was an unknown asterisk in the list of Democrats lining up to run against Moccia. Today, this article .....and all of you........are only talking about Mangiacopra and Moccia. Awareness....even if its not positive.......was the objective of this move and that has succeeded. Heard the Harbor Master skipped town on Saturday....didn't want to be here when the ship hit the fan. He and the people at Parks and Rec and yes, the mayor himself all should have known better. Harbor Commission warned them. Army Corps of Engineers warned them. Shellfish Commission warned them, Coast Guard warned them. But Parks and Rec and the Harbormaster saw $$$ and safety and the public good flew out the window. Now they should be called to answer for their short sighted foolishness. View Comment

Well, apparently the Island Belle tore the docks out at Veterans Park ...and the Harbormaster wasn't even around to deal with it. He caught the last plane out of town as the storm was looming. Headed for a sunny beach as the storm of the century bore down on the situation he had helped create. View Comment

Thanks to the tremendous foresight of our Harbormaster and Parks and Rec Director we now have a 3 story wind sail named the Island Belle tied up to a dock that is not designed to handle a boat that size in normal weather and we have the storm of the century bearing down on us. Heaven help those two if that great white barge breaks loose and takes out the bridge. View Comment

@lwitherspoon Here's a question for you: Why would a Mayor (Mr Moccia) knowingly take large campaign contributions from officials of a company (City Carting), literally months before that company is bidding on large contracts for the municipality that the Mayor is supposed to be representing? Our highest crime areas are not spread out in Norwalk. They are tightly focused within several blocks of the police station. Make that priority one . Feet on the street in your highest crime areas. View Comment

They shouldn't have to "descend upon" South Norwalk.....its where their headquarters is. Get people off desks and out of squad cars and saturate the area with foot patrols. Its not as though this is happening over a wide area of Norwalk. Its happening right outside their building. Increased foot patrols is what made the difference in New York City. View Comment

@Dianne.. The whole purpose of putting the new police station in South Norwalk was to act as a deterrent. But if all they do is stay behind their fences and head out in their patrol cars, it doesn't work. I like what someone else suggested here. You start putting foot patrols on the street in South Norwalk and let the officers develop a real relationship with members of the community and you will see things start to change. Their presence will lessen the crime and their relationship with the community will make people more comfortable reporting whats going on. Regarding Tim T and lWitherspoon...two sides to the same coin and people get tired of the bickering like two spoiled children in the back seat of a loooong car ride. View Comment
