Another case of our elected officials, mostly Democrats, voting in support of criminals over law abiding citizens. Disgusting is all that comes to mind. Pretty soon all CT is going to have are illegal aliens, welfare cases & a few rich people. View Comment
Nope, same reason I wouldnt let my daughter go to a slumber party with male chaperones.
You cant have it both ways. If a persons sexual choice needs to be considered & brought up all the time we need to at least do it rationally. Why would it be any more proper for a gay man to be with a bunch of young boys in this situation than it would be for a straight man and a bunch of teenage girls?
I'm sure this will get the haters going but thats life & these are our children. View Comment
This is the problem in our state. Some thug shoots at people and is charged with reckless endangerment, assault & posession of a gun? When you shoot at somebody you are trying to kill them not recklessly endanger or assault them. This guy will be walking the streets of CT in a year even if convicted of every single charge. Yet posession of certain guns legally bought & paid for, or a standard capacity magazine by a law abiding citizen whos undergone extensive background checks & training is a felony.
This state is screwed. View Comment
This is a good common sense bill. Unlike the one the house passed last night granting illegal aliens the right to get drivers licenses. Wonder if Duff will keep LEGAL residents best interests at heart when he casts his vote. But since the illegal population, much like most of our criminal population, supports democrats I imagine he'll vote for it. Its funny how a single criminal can cause our general assembly to gut the rights of all of us, but a few million criminals are something they seek to help. View Comment
Its truly sad just how ignorant we are to believe taxes NEED to be so high. In a city of 80,000+ people, maybe 90,000 by now & a state of 3+ million, the tax burden, if most are pulling their own weight, should be LESS than a smaller town or less populous state, Yet its not & its not because of all the stuff we subsidize. Our politicians lead us to believe that progess is good for us, that we NEED commuters to bring in money, so we ALL fund a rail system to help them, ignoring the economic reality that the cost of the train FAR exceeds any benefit of having those people commute from here. Thats just one example, another is the percieved NEED to build houseing & provide money for those who cant afford it here. This creates a constant drive for grant money which requires a drive for more people to help, which in turn creates a bigger tax burden & lower percent of tax payers.
I have 16 acres in northern NH. They have police, fire, sewer & everything else we have, except commuters & ghettos. But in a town of only 900 my property taxes are under $800 a year. $800 in a town with less than 1000 people contributing vs $8000 in a city of 80+ thousand.
Thats not progress, its liberal tax & spend at its best. Create poor so you can rape earners to help the poor you made. I might be different than most Norwalkers but I'd rather keep what I earn & let everyone pull their own weight. I'm sick & tired of paying for political correctness & schemes.
The ONLY reason our taxes are as they are is because we are lazy & look to the state & cities, (which really have NO money) to fix our troubles. WE arent here to be supported by the state or city, they exist because WE support them. View Comment
Look at many of the the replies here, the average CT voter cant think for themselves and since we already have a liberal general assembly they just keep pulling the moron lever. Murphy was elected because Linda McMahon represents those evil people who actually make money and pay taxes to fund the liberal programs that Murphy's constituents need. View Comment
This guys an idiot, a showman with no common sense. Worst part is we elected the bozo.
Personally given our current financial situation I think cutting back on ALL social aid is a good idea. This jerk is just trying to show how hard it is and gain sympathy because he doesnt like this sort of cutback. Thing is its suposed to be hard, living off the generosity of the taxpayers shouldnt be easy. People on social aid should need to go without, otherwise wheres the incentive to take care of ourselves.
You, Senator, would do better to try to regain some of the civil rights you & your cohorts so greedily infringe at every chance. Do something about the tax situation in this state. Look in the mirror & ask yourself if you pull these shenanigans for us, or for your ego. View Comment
So we build, not for people who want to live here but rather those useing us as stepping stones? How will these projects benefit the people who live in Norwalk? We should, if we need to attract anything and I dont think we do, be trying to get people to move here for life & become part of the community.
These things are priced beyond what most of Norwalks young people can afford so wheres the gain?
Will the taxes slated to be raised in Norwalk have those increases offset by the increase in the grand list? Would be nice if the city found an increase in the grand list and instead of just spending more money gave us something back. We arent talking peanuts here either, looks like 347 units which should generate a substantial increase. Unfortunately it never comes back to us, the taxpayers, but gets used up by those elected to look after our best interests. View Comment
Blah blah blah, the reality is that we continue to stagnate under liberal state & federal policy. NOBODY has gained anything in recent years unless they are on aid or have a state/municipal job. Many of these new jobs are in the state or local govts meaning that while more people are employed, nothing has gotten better with the economy since no govt jobs actually generate money, instead they increase the tax burden in a state already at the top in that regard. CT consistently rates among the highest taxed states, to have the highest taxed state also have one of the highest deficits and highest unemployment is nothing to be proud of, but its what our Democratic legislature saddles us with regularly and shown no sign of changing. A less responsible bunch of elected people would be truly hard to find.

Clueless, CT may have had Rep Governors, in name anyway, but we have NEVER had a republican administration. We have had a solidly Democratic legislature for at LEAST 20 years now. Time for you clowns to start accepting responsability for where we are as a state. View Comment
Could be, but since the Mosque property is bought & paid for plus untold thousands in design & consultation I think it would be costly to the city. Besides why would it be less intrusive to the residents there than where it belongs? I doubt the residents in West Norwalk woulda had issue with an Episcopal church so I imagine the envisioned complex is bigger than Grace Episcopal. Enough of this NIMBY BS, let them build what they want on THEIR property. View Comment
What could possibly be more embarassing than to call yourself a Democrat in CT, the biggest Democratic failure in the union right now. Highest income, highest taxed, most restrictive, and flat broke like virtually every other Dem controlled cesspool out there.
Im proud to call myself a Republican & quick to point out that most Rep politicians are true blue RINO's.
The fact is the Liberal gam,e is old & its a failure. Time to get back to our roots & let America prosper again after this dismal experiment in socialism. View Comment
No kidding. But I'd bet these guys blamed, rightfully so, Obama at least as much as Bush. After all Obama voted for the Iraq war & Obama hasnt let up on the Mid East even a little. At any rate if we just STOP admitting ANYBODY with even a hint of radicalism or criminal background in things would be better. Especially since Obama is NOT scaling anything back in the region & will likely be fighting Iran soon. View Comment
Its pretty pathetic that the same liberals who are constantly crying about "big oil" profits are the ones taxing it far beyond the profit of those companies. How is it a Democratic legislator in CT has more right to make money off of a product than the people who make it? Then these same liberals will act like they actually want us to use more efficient cars & conserve fuel. Illogical is a good way to describe the concept of creating an economic dependency on something and then trying to get people to buy less of what you are dependent upon. The same losers do the same thing with alcohol & cigs. Tax cigs until the state makes more than the store, then spend money campaigning against smoking cigerettes. Are they so blind as not to see what will happen when enough people quit & enough people decide not to be so wasteful with fuel? What to tax then? View Comment
Guess it depends how you view his service. I found him to be something of an elitist who feels he and his officers were above the rest of us. I dont think we need people such as that running the city. We need somebody to start putting the taxpayer above personal agendas & opinions. View Comment
Looks nice but if we dont adress our attractiveness to homeless, welfare recipients, street gangs and lowlifes in general then who believes that it will remain nice. Heck we had homeless LIVING in Oyster shell park before it was done & theyre still there. Our most pressing issue is ridding ourselves of this cancer. As long as we ignore it not much new we build for the public has much hope. As it stands I see new benches & shelters for people to use when the shelters are full. View Comment
Unfortunately all our state legislature and most local politicians know how to do is tax & spend. Heck they even spend money looking for ways to save money, usually spending more than they actually save but still bragging about what they have done for us. View Comment
I guess we can agree on some things and this is one. I have no real problem with officers making extra money directing traffic. But dont see why this money needs to come from the PD. They can go work for flagman companies, or form their own companies like so many firemen do. To top it off many dont even take it serious & we can see many texting and checking e-mails, when not talking to crews & passerby, oblivious to the traffic they are being paid to watch. This is just one way Norwalk could save its TAXPAYERS millions of dollars. Thing is its getting to the point where theres more residents not paying taxes than taxpayers. As this continues costs of running the city go on the back burner because fewer voters are effected. Thats also why we have such a liberal slant to everything we do. NOTHING we do is considered based on cost effectiveness or affordability. If we cant afford it the Common Council just raises taxes, much like Duff & his buddies do in Hartford.
