On the flip side Former Chief Rilling and Alex Knopp had the rank and file officers working without a contract while in office. All the while, Rilling made sure he was covered. The police union had to threaten to sue these guys and hold out on Knopp's endorsement to get a contract.
Besides what he saved the city in salary, he cost in rising crime rates and a gang problem he could've nipped in the bud as early as 2007 when he laughed in the face of community members who told him that gangs were sprouting up in South Norwalk. View Comment
Yup, Moccia is trying to buy the police union endorsement....3 people got promoted yesterday. Dont forget he now has 6 commander appointments with the elimination of the captain's position. Plus the 75 paving projects coming up that will all need overtime police presence...the police union was all about Rilling before. let's see how strong that blue allegiance is. Money vs brotherhood. I think that money will trump the blue brotherhood... View Comment
I hope he has a better plan for crime prevention than he had as Chief...something better than blaming the community for not doing his job. View Comment
This article is misleading...Just because there are less people working in Norwalk, doesn't mean those people are unemployed. If the unemployment rate dropped, then it means those people probably just moved away... View Comment
So for the fun of it I looked up Vine and the statute...It's not internet advertisement. Vine is a way to express yourself in 6 seconds or less by video similar to a facebook status or comment on this website...So it isn't a violation of the statute as written (in my interpretation)...When the statutes catch up to the social media frenzy it may or not be in the future...Let's see what SEEC says...Clever little guy that Vinny. The fact that there is no audio may be the critical factor in it not being a violation. View Comment
"Same sentiments here but more astonishment at the low income mentality"
Whatever that means. Meanwhile a lot of Norwalk taxpayers are living off money the city is getting because of its low income community. Lets see how many people, including city employees eat off the $1 million+ community grant that's coming through.
The city is going take about half a mil off the top and then not send any down the communities it's meant for.
Congressman Himes needs to oversee this process because it's shady. Norwalk doesn't want to give us money out of it's budget then send that CDBG grant million straight to the low-income communities. View Comment
"Did Norwalk ever find the 400,000.00 that was misappropriated by NEON?"
Do you know what misappropriated means? It was never lost it was accounted for but spent for NEON building costs and not head start.
Did the city ever find the $4 million the Norwalk Public Schools lost? This money was never accounted for. Longo's words were "my best guess is"...A far stretch from knowing the money was spent on expenses related to running the NEON program.
Get it right. View Comment

These developers Moccia keeps coming up with tend to have ideas and no funds...
"Wrinn added that with the SoNo Field House and SoNo Ice House springing up in recent years, a public pool “could fit right in.” "
SoNo Field House nor the Ice House are public. I don't understand the connection with a public pool. View Comment
A lot of local businesses are losing money they would have made from the marathon. The $3 million the race hosts were going to contribute to hurricane relief is also lost because people are wanting their money back from registration now. It was a lose-lose situation.
Anyways, I was in NYC yesterday. People were out and about carrying on with their lives.

Garner Street...No sidewalks, steep windy hill, people park on both sides at the bottom of the hill, and it narrows at the bottom of the hill. And it's a two way. View Comment
If you know him just ask him if he's trying to run for mayor as a Democrat. He's not trying to hide it. He joined the NAACP just in time to hear to people tell us how the NPD beat them up and he changed his party
affiliation. All you need is his date of birth to verify. View Comment
Lol, Rilling told someone he thinks he has a great relationship with the minority community. Hahaha...
He better get ready for a primary.
He changed his party last week. I say he's just a spy though. No one's fooled by him. Maybe we'll let him start on the council. View Comment
Boo f'ing hoo. Why is it that everytime a white person shoots someone or does something like this, the judge sends them to psychiatric evaluation? And really, you dropped his bail to $25,000? Tonya McDowell's bail was set at $25,000 for sending her child to school in a district she didn't live in...These judges and this justice system is full of Malarky... View Comment
