Organizers of Maker Faire Westport are expecting a whopping 10,000 people to converge on Jesup Green, Bedford Square and the surrounding area, bringing with them lots of cars and pedestrian traffic.

Police are planning to step up patrols for the event between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Church Lane will be closed to cars between Elm Street and Post Road East.

Motorists are advised to expect more pedestrians and traffic slowdowns.

Part science fair, part country fair, Maker Faire is a catalyst for tinkerers, artisans, engineers and those who think way outside the proverbial box.

Events to see include the Virtual Reality Safari, Amazon Alexa Demo Bar, Nerdy Derby, Human Foosball, 3D printers, artists, musicians, K-12 and college student activities, robots, crafts and more.

In addition to the typical makers, be sure to see the 9.5 foot tall Hulkbuster that was a hit at New York Comic Con and a popular “escape room” created especially for the Maker Faire.

More than 100 makers have signed up, so this will be the biggest event in Maker Faire Westport history.

Food trucks will be available and plenty of family-friendly events, which are free and open to the public.
