The closure is on the northbound side of the Merritt between Exits 41 and 42, the DOT said.

It was not clear when the parkway would reopen in the Westport location.

There is also a closure on the southbound side of the Merritt in the Orange-Derby between Exits 59 and 58 because of a tree fell on a van there, according to the Connecticut State Police.

That closure was expected to reopen soon. There were  injuries in the crash, and victims needed extrication for the vehicle, state police said.

"While traveling of highways and road watch for falling trees, branches and power lines during today's high winds," state police said in a statement.
