The Fairfield County Football League will holds its third-grade championship game and the semifinals for teams in fourth through eighth grades Saturday and Sunday at several fields throughout the region.
The third-grade game Saturday matches the top-seeded New Canaan Black against second-seeded Wilton Blue. New Canaan is 7-0-1, while Wilton is 8-0-1. The teams played to a 14-14 tie on Oct. 19. Kickoff is at 10:30 a.m. at New Canaan's Dunning Stadium.
The New Canaan Red seventh-grade team kicks off the morning at Dunning with a 9 a.m. contest against Darien White. New Canaan Red (9-0) advanced with a 19-0 win last week over Westport North. It was the seventh shutout for NC Red, which has outscored opponents, 175-20. It beat Darien White, 21-0, on Sept. 11. Fairfield Red meets New Canaan Black at 6:30 p.m. at Dunning.
In the fourth-grade division, New Canaan Red kicks off against Wilton Black at 5 p.m. Saturday at Dunning. Darien Blue meets Wilton Blue at 5 p.m. Saturday at Wilton High School in the other semifinal. In fifth grade, Wilton Blue upset top-seeded Darien Wave, 6-0, last week. Wilton Blue, the No. 7 seed, plays Westport South at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Westport's Romano Field. Westport North meets Darien Blue at noon Sunday at Darien High School in the other semifinal.
Top-seeded Darien Blue meets No. 4 New Canaan Red at 8:30 a.m. Saturday in a sixth-grade semifinal. No. 3 Ridgefield Orange meets No. 2 New Canaan Black in the other semi at 1 p.m. Sunday at Dunning. In the eighth-grade division, top seed Darien White plays No. 5 Fairfield Red at 10 a.m. Saturday at Darien High, and No. 2 Wilton Blue hosts No. 3 New Canaan Red at 6:30 p.m. at Wilton High.
