Village Gourmet Wins a Pair in Cranbury League

NORWALK, Conn. – Results from recent action in the Cranbury Baseball League:

Mustang Division (9- and 10-year olds):

Village Gourmet 12, VAT Plumbing and Heating 4: Village Gourmet scored seven runs in the first inning en route to the victory. Hits by Kyle Peter and last-minute substitute Brendan Edvardsen fueled the first inning rally. After their shaky start in the first, VAT managed to hold Village scoreless until the fifth inning, when hits by Peter, his second of the day, Austin Hall and Ryan Trani brought in three more runs. In addition, Sean Murawski and Connor Gilchrist each had hits late in the game for the winners. VAT managed to add a few more runs of their own in their half of the fifth and again in the sixth on the clutch hitting of William Napoleone, Ben Plaag, Ian Asanovic and Trevor Anderson.

Tim’s Philly Steaks 11, Gutter Guys 5: Tim's Philly Steaks' bats ripped 13 hits in the win. Travis Lajoie led the charge with a single and a home run. James Boccanfuso had a single and a triple, Evan Donohue had three hits, Luke Dube had two hits and Brendan Edvardsen, Evan Lander and Mike Donohue each chipped in with a hit. The Gutter Guys were led by Gavin Kee with a hit and two RBIs, and Tyler Cappadonna, who reached base all three times at bat and scored twice.

Village Gourmet 20, VAT Plumbing and Heating 10: Austin Hall (2-4), Ryan Trani (3-4), Sean Murawski (3-4, with a triple), Dylan Polka, Kyle Peter and Justin Stavrianos each contributed hits to the Village effort. Pitching duties were handled by Polka, Connor Glichrist?? and Trani. VAT was helped by the clutch hitting of William Napoleone (4-4), Ian Asanovic and Jake Palmer, and by Gavin Key and Brendan Edvardsen, who were filling in for VAT.

Bronco Division (11- and 12-year-olds):

O'Neill's 10, DJK Fuel 5: A.J. Hall was 3-for-3 and raised his average to 500 this season, and Zach Hurd blasted two hits and drove in four RBIs to pace O’Neill’s. Ari Lander continued his hot hitting with two hits and three runs scored, and Aren Craft and Larry Joyce each knocked a clutch hit to break the game open. For DJK, Renn Lints smacked a long home run to centerfield.

Laurel AC 10, Crown Trophy 5: Eddie McCabe led the Laurel AC offense, going 4-for-4 at the plate, including a single, two stand-up doubles, and a towering solo homerun over the center field fence. McCabe stole three bases, including home and scored three runs. Oliver Harary had three hits, two RBIs and four stolen bases. Harary scored twice. Quinn Sandor had two hits and stole three bases. Rounding out the Laurel AC offense was an RBI double by Jake Cavicchia and an RBI single by Chase Larkin. Justin Buswell started on the mound for Laurel AC and pitched three innings, striking out five batters. Jake Cavicchia and Eddie McCabe pitched in relief, allowing only four hits and striking out six batters between them. Crown Trophy highlights included two doubles and a single by Marco Monteiro and hits by Jake Trani, Jack Carlucci and Thomas Troy.
