Unbeaten Norwalk 8th Grade Girls Basketball Team Ups Perfect Record

NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Girls Basketball Association 8th grade girls basketball team raised its record to 20-0 after a series of impressive wins.

Norwalk began the latest run with a 48-28 win over Stamford. Leading by just 22-18 at halftime, Norwalk pulled away with a 16-4 fourth quarter surge. Kaitlyn Davis led the way with 13 points. Janelle Johnson added nine points while Ashley Wilson scored eight and Tamia Fulton had six. Olivia Davis scored five points, Michelle Perea had three while Jocelyn Mullins and Sawyer Milillo had two each.

Norwalk also beat Milford, 61-31. Johnson scored 15 points while Olivia Davis had 11. Kaitlyn Davis (nine points), Michelle Perea and Aija Andrews (eight points each) added balance. Sanaa Boyd, Ashley Wilson and Fulton also scored.

Norwalk also beat a tough Newtown team, 49-35. The win capped a 10-0 season in the Fairfield County Basketball League. Norwalk finished first in the regular season, while Milford, Newtown and Stamford each have four league losses.

Kaitlyn Davis scored 18 points in a 57-10 wn over Danbury. Fulton added nine, while Wilson had eight. Boyd added 6 points and Milillo, Andrews, Olivia Davis and Jocelyn Mullins had four points each.

Norwalk notched its 20th straight win by defeating Fairfield 60-22. Norwalk led 25-6 at the half and extended it with a 24-9 third quarter surge to take a commanding 49-15 lead after three quarters. Five players scored at least 9 points led by Aija Andrews with 13 and Jocelyn Mullins with 11.

Norwalk plays its final home game on Sunday, Feb. 15, at 6 p.m. against Wilton at Ben Franklin gym. The girls then make their annual trip to Great Barrington, Mass., for the Golden Knights Invitational tournament.
