TPT Engravers Remain Unbeaten

TPT Engravers improved its regular season record to 9-0, solidifying its hold on first place in Norwalk Cal Ripken League's Minor Division for nine- and 10-year-olds. TPT distanced itself from second-place RK's Landscaping by recently defeating its rival 3 to 0. Matt Clark led TPT's offense with two hits and three RBI, and pitchers Chris Druin and Brendan Quinlan-Huertas combined to hold RK's hitless. RK's pitchers Mike Claps, Johnny Thorme and Hugh Clyne combined to strike out 13 while scattering seven hits.

Schwartz Law (6-1) sits atop the Norwalk Cal Ripken Major Division for 11- and 12-year olds, thanks to a recent dramatic 3 to 2 win over the New Canaan Indians. A.J. Ibarrondo drove in all three runs, including a walk-off, two-run single in the bottom of the last inning. On the mound, Ibarrondo, Luke Schwartz and David Balunek yielded only two hits while striking out 11. For the Indians, Kyle Lavasseur had a base hit and pitched two scoreless innings. Indians' pitcher David Giusti surrendered only one run over the first three innings and struck out seven.

Other Major Division Results

New Canaan Indians 14, Pauli's Bagels & Deli 13

In perhaps the most dramatic game of the year, the Indians blew a huge lead but hung on to edge Pauli's. Trailing 13-0 in the third inning, Pauli's Christian Lengel smacked a three-run homer to prevent the game from ending early due to the mercy rule. Matt Parlanti's three-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the last inning pulled Pauli's within a single run before the rally fizzled.

Schwartz Law 10, Stepping Stones Marble & Granite 4

Hunter Dumas and David Balunek both had two hits and three RBI. On the mound, A.J. Ibarrando got the win with two perfect innings to start the game, and T.J. Copeland and David Balunek combined for three hitless innings of relief.

Pauli's Bagels & Deli 6, New Canaan Reds 5

Pauli's pitcher Jeremy Linton allowed only one run over five innings while striking out eight. Linton also slammed a two-run homer and Matt Parlanti hit two doubles to lead Pauli's offense.

Terzian Trucking 7, New Canaan Reds 4

Terzian overcame a 3-0 first-inning deficit to record the win. Terzian's Brandon Gonzales collected three hits, and Mike Meyers and Nico Petridis both doubled to lead the offense.

Stepping Stones Marble & Granite 11, The Batter's Box 5

Matt Jacowleff collected three hits, and Wady Almonte and Ryan Fitton each singled twice for Stepping Stones. Zach Pirraglia hit a solo home run, and Kyle Hackett went two for three for The Batter's Box.

Terzian Trucking 5, Stepping Stones 3

Marco Latella led the Terzian offense with a single and a double, and Nico Petridis, Mike Meyers and Topher Brown combined to limit Stepping Stones to three runs.

Other Minor Division Results

RK's Landscaping 8, The Original Swanky Franks 3

Hugh Clyne led the balanced RK's Landscaping offense with a standup RBI triple, and Kyle Spezzano reach base safely three times. Pitchers Johnny Thorme and Mike Claps combined to scatter four hits and strike out 14 over six innings. Jordan O'Brien homered and Kyle Woodring had two hits for Swanky Franks.

RK's Landscaping 2, Furst Properties 1

Hugh Clyne, James Stephanowicz and Mike Claps combined to strike out 13 batters for RK's. Clyne led the offense by collecting two hits, including an RBI double, and Liam Notley scored the go-ahead run in the fifth inning. Joey Sepuca and Ronnie Visciglia both tripled for Furst Properties, and pitchers Matthew Saint-Louis and Jake Buffardi teamed up to strike out eight batters.

The Original Swanky Franks 10, Sono Energy 9

Kyle Woodring went four for four, driving in the winning run in the bottom of the last inning. He also pitched two innings, striking out six batters. Danny Robillard scored four runs for Swanky Franks. Alberto Regalado and Jake Dumas pitched two strong innings each for Sono.

Sono Energy 2, RK's Landscaping 0

Although Hugh Clyne, Mike Claps and Johnny Thorme threw a combined no-hitter for RK's,

Sono Energy capitalized on bases on balls to capture the win. Sono pitchers Anthony Socci and Alberto Regalado combined to one-hit RK's, striking out 14. Chase Lator and Tyler Simeon scored for Sono.

TPT Engravers 10, Shining Stars Daycare 0

Matt Clark went three for three (including a double) and Chris van der Els and Brendan Quinlan-Huertas both tripled to lead TPT's offense. For the Shining Stars, Peter Neglia collected a hit, stole a base and struck out five opposing batters in his two innings as a pitcher. Shining Stars catcher Danny Caragine threw out several opposing baserunners.

TPT Engravers 12, Furst Properties 9

Chris van der Els and Brendan Quinlan-Huertas both had two hits to lead TPT's offense, and Michael Secci got the RBI that broke a tie in the final inning. Michael Macari, Andrew Lesko, Ronnie Visciglia and Jake Buffardi had key hits for Furst Properties.

Furst Properties 10, Shining Stars Daycare 0

Andrew Matthews homered and Matthew Saint-Louis, Ryan D'Amico and Ronnie Visciglia stroked extra base hits for Furst Properties.
