Synchronized Skaters Hold Spring Clinic

The Southern Connecticut Synchronized Skating Parents Organization will host a spring clinic at Stamford's Terry Conners Rink on May 22, June 5 and June 12 from 5 to 6 p.m. The clinic costs $100 per skater.

Southern Connecticut Synchronized Skating takes pride in offering a rewarding opportunity to figure skaters looking for a team experience. So often, figure skaters crave the combination of competing on the ice and a fun group atmosphere — and synchronized skating does just that.

Synchronized skating is one of the fastest-growing skating sports in the world. These teams, Sprites, Shimmers and Shadows, range in ages and skating ability from beginners to the accomplished, making room for just about everyone. There's still time to join teams for the 2011-12 season.

The Southern Connecticut Synchronized Skating Parent Organization strives to have its athletes maintain a balance among synchronized skating, individual figure skating, family commitments, school and other activities. Keeping that balance has been a recipe for success for all three teams.

In the 2010-11 season, the teams medaled at every competition they entered. The Sprites, skating Beginner competitions, won gold in the 2010 Terry Conners Open and silver in the 2011 Connecticut Synchronized Skating Classic. The Shimmers, skating against prejuvenile competition, won gold in the 2010 Terry Conners Open and 2011 Eastern Sectional championship, silver in the 2011 Colonial Classic and bronze in the 2011 Connecticut Synchronized Skating Classic. The Shadows, skating Open Juvenile, won the gold in the 2010 Terry Conners Open, silver in the Colonial Classic and the Connecticut Synchronized Skating Classic, and pewter in the Eastern Sectional championships.

Complete information about the clinic is available on the team's website at http://terryconnerssynchro.org
