The Norwalk Sonics under-12 girls soccer team is off to a 2-1 start in its fall season. After dropping its opener to Fairfield, the Sonics have rebounded to defeat Darien, 5-0, and Wilton, 6-1.
Against Darien, Yahaira Novoa scored two goals while Christy Russo, Arianna Marotta and Meredith Pellegrino scored one each. The Sonics defense and keepers Amanda Barker and Sami Ruess also played well.
Against Wilton, Pellegrino and Marotta had two apiece. Russo and Yahaira Novoa also connected. The defense, led by Lindsay McEwan, Melissa Guzman and Nazae Craw, kept the Wilton offense to only a few shots on goal. Olivia Lipson, Caroline Abrams, Kathleen McElaney and Kate McKinnon all made key contributions.
