The Norwalk Junior Soccer Association Maniacs, a U13 boys travel team, scored a 6-0 victory over Bethel to improve to 3-2.
The only first half score came on a breakaway from Norwalk's Eric van der Els. Maniacs' goalkeeper Thomas Mendola, along with defenders Christian Willkehr, Ciran O'Reilly, Ian Anderson, and Jeffrey Arteaga kept Bethel at bay.
The Maniacs kicked into high gear during the second half, with a quick goal by van der Els, assisted by midfielder Marcus Garcia. Diego Partoda scored next, with an assist by Anderson. Forward van der Els delivered two more goals, assisted by Partoda, while assisting forward Marvin Best in another goal.
Norwalk dominated the second half as forward Alex Espinosa and midfielders Ivan Avalos, Jaime Mandujano, Diego Arteaga, Alex Ceja, Luis Mandujano, and Emmanuel Valdovinos helped bottle up Bethel's attack.
The Maniacs record stands at 3-2 for the season. Their next home game is on Oct. 30 at Broad River versus Stamford Gold.
