Shippan Racquet Club Racks Up Wins

The youngsters at Shippan Racquet Club had a fantastic weekend of matches, piling up wins against clubs from all over Fairfield County.

The Shippan Tornadoes (10 & under) came out victorious against the Kings Highway Tennis Team, sweeping all courts. Shiloh Williamson and his partner Aidan Reilly, both of Stamford, grabbed a 4-0 win in doubles action. Reilly then won his singles match, 4-2. Juliet Homes of Darien, the only girl in her age group, proved she was as good as the boys with a 4-1 victory.

The Shippan Wild Fires (12 & under) burned through the Kings Highway Panthers on Sunday, losing only two courts and taking the match, 64-23. Rishab Tandon of Stamford and Susie Alptekin of Darien started the team off as both won, 4-0, 4-0. The Wild Fires are in third place in their age group after only three matches.

The Shippan Stormers (14 & under advanced) swept away all but one court against Four Seasons Racquet Club. Carlos Mauleon of New Canaan won in a third set tiebreaker in a nail-biting match. Anna Rogers of Stamford had an easy win, 4-0, 4-0, in singles and partnered with Pia Teschner of Darien to win, 4-1, 4-0, in female doubles. Lindsey Evans of Fairfield won her singles match, 4-3, 4-1. Alex Berardino of Darien also won his singles match, 4-0, 4-1.

The Hurricanes (14 & under intermediate) played solid against the Norwalk Green Movers. Erika Gill of Darien had a great win, 4-0, 4-0, in the top female singles spot. Teammates Anna Daccache of Riverside and Pia Teschner of Darien played the No. 1 female doubles spot, bringing home a victory, 4-0, 4-0. Charlie Brooks, Harrison Walter and Peter Mahony, all from Darien, won their matches easily, dropping just three games among them.

Finally, the Shippan Twisters (18 & under) defeated the Trumbull Wolves with a winning score of 62-33. Philip Goransson of Greenwich and Charlie Khachian of Darien each won in singles action, 4-0, 4-0. Sarah Alptekin of Darien won her singles match in a tiebreaker.
