Rower Needs Your Vote for Olympic Honor

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – New Canaan's Andrew Campbell has been nominated as the U.S. Olympic Committee's Athlete of the Month for July. You can vote for Campbell here.

Campbell, a New Canaan High School graduate and Harvard sophomore, has had a tremendous July, winning bronze at the U-23 World Championships in the Lightweight 2x and prevailing at the USRowing Trials against top U.S. rowers to gain a spot on the U.S. national team. He will compete at the World Championships in Bled Slovenia at the end of August. Campbell rowed through high school at New Canaan Crew and Maritime Rowing Club.

Seventeen athletes have been nominated for the award, including athletes from the Summer Olympic Sports. Campbell stood in third place early Wednesday morning behind weightlifter Darren Barnes and swimmer Ryan Lochte. Voting closes at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
