The quarterfinals of the Fairfield County Football League playoffs for teams in grades 3 through 8 resume this weekend with games at New Canaan's Dunning Field on Saturday and Sunday, and Darien, Westport, Wilton and Fairfield also hosting games.
Six games are on tap for Saturday at New Canaan beginning at 9 a.m. The top-seeded New Canaan Black play fourth-seeded Westport North to kick off a full day of football. The final game of the day is the top-seeded New Canaan Red vs. eighth-seeded Westport North in an 8:30 p.m. kickoff. New Canaan's seventh-grade squad was one of the top teams in the league this season, compiling an 8-0 mark while outscoring opponents, 156-20.
One game will be played Saturday at Westport's P.J. Romano Field, two at Wilton High School and two at Ridgefield High School. Darien High School will host three games Sunday beginning at 10:30 a.m., when No. 2 seeded Darien Blue hosts No. 7 Wilton White in a fifth-grade contest. There are also games at Dunning Field, Fairfield Warde High School and Wilton High School. The complete schedules are available online .
Teams from Darien were seeded first in the fifth-, sixth- and eighth-grade leagues. Teams from New Canaan were the top seeds in the third-, fourth- and seventh-grade leagues. The finals will be played Nov. 21 except in the third-grade division, which will play its finals Nov. 14.
