NORWALK, Conn. – Some new things are happening for the Norwalk-based Xtreme Cheer team. One thing that never gets old, however, is the squad’s success in the most significant competitions of the season.

Xtreme, which will move to a new home next year at the Sono Ice House, had two top 20 finishes in The Summit,  a national competition last weekend at Walt Disney World in Florida.

Flare, a Senior Level 3 team for athletes 18-and-under, finished 19th out of 28 teams. Fire, a Senior Coed Restricted Level team for athletes 18-and-under, finished fourth. Only a handful of teams from cheer squads from across the United States qualified for the competition.

In late April, Xtreme’s Inferno place 18th at the world championship competition, which was also held at Disney. The competition included the top 39 teams in the world. Xtreme finished 26th in the world last year.

“It was a great accomplishment because they were the very first team of the competition early in the morning, and being first never has its advantages,’’ Xtreme co-owner Dana Talbot said. Her husband and co-owner, Mike, is a member of Inferno, an International Open Coed Level 5 team for cheerleaders 15-and-up.

Inferno members are: Mike Talbot, Angel Neris, Dilmer Bonifacio, Frank Stashenko, Dayne Blackwood, Anthony Munoz, Jonathan Ruffin, Benjamin Porter, Ricky Carter, Jackson McGormick, Dilmer Bonifacio, James Simmons, Amanda Sirois, Cindy Gurka, Jessie Baum, Alyssa Vidulich, Sophia Buitrago, Ashley Brennan, Alex Birch, Eliana Betzios, Maddy Mann, Camille and Cameron Monette and Hannah Gilpatrick.

Fire is comprised of: Justin Gonzolas, Benjamin Porter, Cooper Lawrence, Jessie Baum, Alyssa and Kara Vidulich, Hannah Gilpatrick, Jenna Serio, Katrina Dolan, Cameron and Camille Monette, Ali Williams, Paige Moran, Carissa Nichols, Kylie McFall, Alex Birch, Alyssa DeMichael, Savannah Marino, Alexis Zeballos, Brianna Bright and Melanie Oshea.

Flare is: Kelly Ceccarelli, Kylie Packer, Katie Ferguson, Carson Allsteadt, Jessica Favarolo, Nicole Wamser, Lisa Balls, Daniella Ruiz, Nina Jordao, Shelby Hopper, Kaley Goane, Chelsey Martylweski, Deanna Magee, Samantha Schieffelin, Samantha Troy, Lauren Peluso, Eliana Betzios, Caroline Terelle, Lauren Disbennet, Brianna Pelicci and Chase Liebow.
