NORWALK, Conn. The Norwalk/Brien McMahon girls swimming team finished sixth Thursday at the Class LL championships at Hamden High School. Greenwich won the meet.
Norwalk/McMahon had finished seventh each of the last two years. Its best recent finish was fourth in 2007.
Norwalk finished sixth in the opening 200-medley relay with Alexis Alvarez, Stephanie Czulewicz, Paige DeLago and Olivia Haskell. The team took third in the 200-free relay with Olivia Haskell, Katie Wargo, Lynette Lope and Lauren Czulewicz. It was fifth in the 400-free relay with Wargo, Stephanie Czulewic, DeLago and Lauren Czulewicz.
Swimmers who made the top eight in individual events included Wargo, Stephanie Czulewicz, Lauren Czulewicz and DeLago.
The top swimmers in each event will compete in the State Open Saturday at Yale University. Complete results of the Class LL meet are available online .
