NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Youth Wrestling program, known locally as the Mad Bull’s, has announced a free clinic to test young athletes in kindergarten through eight grade on Sept. 14 at 3:30 p.m. at the Norwalk High School football field.

The event will be conducted in an athletic “combine” format with an emphasis on fun, with a spirited test of endurance, agility, speed and strength.

Testing stations and certified coaches will be set up  as each individual athlete will be tested in seven events ranging from a 50 yard dash, 400 meter run, shuttle run, push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups and standing broad jump.  The results will be tallied for each athlete by age group and gender and compared statistically where they stand with their fitness level against national averages.

The Norwalk Youth Wrestling program is a non-profit group that is entering its fourth year as a youth wrestling club. Its purpose is to teach the fundamental skills of wrestling in a program designed to prepare beginners for competition and enhance the level of expertise for those already competing. The club currently has 35 members from K-8th grade.

Children should have suitable and bring a water bottle. For additional information, call program director Randy Haus 203-252-9724.
