Pastimes Athletic Club knocked out defending champion Tucci Lumber and undefeated Damato Landscaping topped Lakewood Transportation to reach the championship game in the Norwalk Recreation and Parks Touch Football League playoffs.
The third-seeded Pastimes defeated No. 2 seed Tucci Lumber, 14-0, while top-seeded Damato downed No. 5 Lakewood, 8-0. The teams will meet in the championship game Sunday at Norwalk High School's Testa Field at 10 a.m.
Glenn Adams raced 90 yards in an interception return and Paul Curioli returned an interception 60 yards for the Pastimes' two touchdowns. Abe Pirioli's interception in the end zone stopped a Tucci Lumber drive late in the first half, and Demont Battle's leaping interception at the 2-yard line drive ended another threat.
Dan Theodoridis had two sacks for Pastimes, while Randy Annunziato and Jamie Ireland had one each.
Mike Abate threw a 50-yard touchdown pass to T.J. Trimboli in the second half for Damato Landscaping's only score. Abate hit Bobby Trimboli for a 2-point conversion. T.J. Trimboli and Abate had interceptions for Damato (11-0), which has allowed just six points all season. Abate's interception ended a late Lakewood drive deep in Damato territory to end the game. Steve Salters made an acrobatic interception for Lakewood.
